We are a registered charity whose aim is to relieve the needs of homeless persons (18+), or those at risk of homelessness, in Newport South Wales and the surrounding area by the provision of a drop-in centre providing food, drink, shelter, warmth, replacement clothing, bathing facilities, companionship, advice, signposting and support.
The Olive Branch Day Centre is a Charitable Incorporated organisation (CIO) recognised by the Charity Commission, number 1174469.
We have now re-opened the Day Centre, we are happy to be back to serving those who are homeless or vulnerably housed.
With great thanks, we have received funding from the National Lottery, 'Awards for all' and had a generous donation from 'Hoggin the bridge' charity. This has enabled us to re-launch this much needed work in the City of Newport South Wales for a period of time.
We are working hard to secure funding to continued our work.

An Advocate for Change
Newport is a community, a community which needs YOUR help.
The Olive Branch is a registered charity dedicated to helping those in need by not only providing a safe and comfortable space for the homeless and vulnerably housed, but by also providing the means and opportunity for these individuals to take back control over their lives.
With the help of our dedicated volunteers, staff members and partners we can insight a change for the better. Contact us to see how you can help bring about positive change to our city.
Our objectives...
At The Olive Branch Day Centre we aim to offer a service to those who find themselves living on the margins of society, to help each person in their time of need.
We believe that everyone deserves a chance. Homelessness is a symptom of a much deeper cause, we aim to look beyond these symptoms and help individuals with their personal problems and challenges that one may take back control of their lives, and their future. We do this by following our objectives:
Dignity
To offer a place of safety to all who are homeless or vulnerably housed in the Newport area, irrespective of their gender or ethnicity in a non judgemental manner.
Well being
To offer a service that is tailored to individual needs, physical, mental and spiritual.
Hope
To help to build self esteem by sign posting individuals to other organisations and encouraging social interaction to break free from isolation.
Our past...

Social Expeditions
"It's not what you know, it's who you know."
By encouraging social interaction we can help revitalise ones self-confidence. In our experience we have seen how much of a drastic change this can have on an individuals life. A newly revived self-confidence can be all that's needed to land a new job, reconnect with lost loved ones, and at the very least provide one with a sense of self-worth.

Clothing Drives
In 2017 it was estimated that the average British person spends £1042 per year on clothing. In the same year 235 million items of clothing ended up in landfill.
During the winter months it can be a matter of life and death when it comes to obtaining warm clothing for those who live on the street. Our clothing drives, and your donations help vulnerable people overcome this problem.

Christmas Donations
Christmas is a time of joy and celebration for most Britons but for the homeless it is perhaps the most challenging time of year. The increasing cold weather makes residing on the streets more challenging and the psychological effects of homelessness inflate.
A warm Christmas dinner, a shoe box with warm socks, a Christmas card, some chocolate or sweets can help a vulnerable person cope with this challenging period.
